Company History
 

NetComm stands on a foundation of quality, integrity, respect, teamwork, and personalized customer service. We encourage camaraderie and straight talk, an approach that has carried through consistently from our founders' earliest vision. Our business is built on personal relationships, client referrals, and a solid body of work.  These attributes permeate our entire organization, which is why we are often described by clients as flexible, dependable, even indispensable business partners.

Our History

NetComm was founded in 1986, at a time when organizations were moving away from large, centralized information systems, toward distributed forms of computing in which individual users have customized control over the information they use.  At the same time, the challenges facing budget, personnel, and administrative managers called for new and innovative technology solutions. 

Having worked in such dynamic organizations as the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the National Library of Medicine, our founders gained an appreciation for the critical nature of reliable access to customized information. 

NetComm was created when a former budget officer and a former personnel officer channeled their vision-of how IT could better serve business goals-into a company devoted to providing custom business solutions to a marketplace ripe for excellence, innovation, and exceptional customer service.

The company's roots were in three major areas:  network consulting, computer support, and database programming. 

NetComm's first project was to provide software configuration of a network being installed for the National Institutes of Health.  The project was such a success that word spread quickly across the individual institutes, who began to engage NetComm in other areas, including the creation of templates for rapid programming. 

In addition to technical expertise, NetComm's professionals became known for another set of skills, rare among technical professionals in those days-the ability to not only understand the business needs of the client, but to communicate in business terms. 

The intersection of mainframe and personal computing had left a communications gap between technicians and users.  Because NetComm's founders had been in the shoes of the clients they served, they appreciated the business challenges and knew how to translate those into technical specifications.  Not surprisingly, clients valued this ability.

Over time and largely by word of mouth, NetComm's business has grown in many directions.  The company has cultivated client relationships in a variety of public and private sector organizations, some of whom were with NetComm at the start-including the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.  We have taken some of our longest standing clients from the early days of Microsoft DOS, through Windows, to Internet platforms, and we look forward to being with them through the next generations of technology solutions.
